Terri Schiavo
I’m a Catholic and a first year law student at Texas, passionately interested in religious freedom, life issues, and the redemption of man. I came across your site in a fitful, sleepless night despairing over the Terri Schiavo tragedy, and having no less than 4 heated arguments with friends - who all seem to have a problem only with Congress’s attempts to help Terri.
Your editorial gave me some comfort. It seems beyond any possibility to hope for civil disobedience or other resistance, but your words have power nonetheless.
I have not had a chance to fully explore all your articles yet, but I am also intemperate but friendly. I like to read First Things and godspy.com, and I fear that if closely follow yet one more source, I will make ruin of my grades.
At any rate, God bless you all and what you do. Please let me know if I may be of service.
Sincerely,
Jerry Suva
I fail to see the utility of focusing so much time and energy on the life or death of one person when there are much bigger battles to be fought, and I think diverting your reader’s time and intellectual energy to that purpose is irresponsible on your part and, in the larger picture, harmful. I don’t think dicussing the issue is without value entirely: I just disagree with the priority it is being given in the national dialogue and, now, in the New Pantagruel.
