Converting the Jesuits
I am a Jesuit and a student of creative writing at Fordham University in the Bronx.
I found your journal via Image. I have enjoyed Image for quite a while and trust their judgment when it comes to these kinds of things. They did not disappoint in recommending your work. Your journal is a very fresh breath of air at a time when debates over the religion and culture wars have become stultifying. I am still very new to your journal and have yet to explore it thoroughly, however, at first glance the humor is right up my alley.
I nearly fell out of my chair reading the wisdom of your Fr. Gassalasca Jape, S.J. Then, upon discovering the origin of that pseudonym, I hit the floor doubled over.
Most importantly thought, I appreciate the fact that you attempt to remain free of ideological calcification. Moreover, I think I’m a Pantagruelist.
All the best,
Jeff Johnson
It is possible that we are simply diversified in our calcifications. As for Fr. Jape, he tries not to let such praise go to his head, but he is stirring up a campaign to be nominated for a Catholic Blog Award. -Eds.
